History

Tpm was created from the merger of two companies operating in the moulding of technical plastic components and in the manufacturing of moulds. Today it produces for different sectors, but with an emphasis on the automotive industry.

TPM's history

1962 The engineer Gianpaolo Simonelli, purchasing manager for the mechanical and construction sectors at Breda Siderurgica Trafilati , founds Mtp Manufatti Tecnici Plastica. In the beginning, the business is focused on the civil construction sector and, in particular, on plastic parts for load handling. Mtp’s factory is initially in northern Milan while offices are in the Città Studi area of the city.

1965 Diversification begins with the entry of Mtp in the automotive sector. Technopolymers start to be developed and used for engine compartment components.
1967 Mtp starts to expand its business to the electrical and electromechanical sector.

1969 Collaboration with electric battery companies begins. Production reaches 25,000 units a year.

1970 Collaboration begins with companies in the mechanical and hot and cold beverage distribution sectors. This is the year that production of non-toxic FDA-approved polymers began.

1975 It’s now the turn of cosmetic and medical sectors, new areas of business for Mtp.

1980 The automotive market grows further: MTP enters the truck and motorcycle segment. The company becomes a leading player in metal and plastic co-moulding for conductive components for the electronics sector. Collaboration begins with suppliers of plated parts in precious metals intended for wire bonding on the German market.

1990 Expansion on foreign markets begins: European (Germany, France and United Kingdom) and non-European (Brazil). Mtp obtains Iso 9.000 certification.

1995 Management responsibilities are taken over by the son of engineer Simonelli, Enrico.

2000 Mtp begins a strong push towards robotics and automation in production.

2005 Tpm Techno Plastic Moulding srl is established. Multi-part moulding of plastic and rubber and metal components become the core business. The co-design service with clients starts to be developed. The new factor in Martinengo (Bergamo) is opened, with a surface area of 3,000 square metres. Strong growth in turnover: 15% a year.

2008 Tpm receives Iso 14001 certification.

2010 Tpm grows further on the automotive market and, starting that year, also in fluid handling.

2011 Significant growth on foreign markets, in particular Eastern Europe and Asia: China, Vietnam and Malaysia.

2012 Tmp receives Iso Ts 16.949 certification.

2015 Growth continues and turnover exceeds 5 million euros. Tpm now has 30 employees. Long-term collaboration contracts covering up to 10 years are signed with a number of clients.
